Regular Events in Verwood

Verwood hosts several annual events. The Rotary Rustic Fayre on August Bank Holiday Monday at Potterne Park is an occasion filled with classic vehicles, live music, and food stalls. All contribute to a fun-filled atmosphere and proceeds support various causes.

The Verwood Carnival, a vibrant and lively event, occurs on the second bank holiday in May. The Christmas Extravaganza, a joyous and festive occasion, features Father Christmas, music, and rides. At the end of the autumn half-term, we hold the Flameburst fireworks display, a breathtaking spectacle that lights up the night sky.

Verwood’s Indoor Market – a gathering place for the community – operates every Friday at the Memorial Hall, offering homemade goods and refreshments.

Why not join us at Potterne Park for an unforgettable day out? We hold The Rustic Fayer every August Bank Holiday Monday.

Meet up with family and friends, new and old. Our event features a large classic vehicle show, thrilling arena events, a variety of stalls, live music, and a range of food outlets, including a cosy café and a fully stocked bar.

Every penny raised goes towards supporting local, national, and international good causes – keep an eye out for the free programs in local shops and the library. You can even buy a duck for the annual duck race!

Verwood Christmas Extravaganza

Verwood comes alive with the Christmas Extravaganza on a Saturday leading up to Christmas. The Town Council manages the event, and The Heathland Heritage Centre, the United Reformed Church, Verwood Rotary Club, Scouts, and other local organisations join in to help make it a highlight of the season.

One of the most anticipated highlights of the event is the presence of Father Christmas in his enchanting grotto, generously provided by the Verwood Rotary Club. The air is filled with the sounds of Christmas music from Forest FM, and there are rides for the smallest children, refreshment stalls, and much more to add to the festive atmosphere.

Verwood Flameburst

Verwood holds the annual fireworks display, funfair, and entertainment at the end of the autumn half-term.

Verwood Indoor Market

Open from 9.30am to 1pm every Friday in the Memorial Hall, Verwood’s friendly indoor market comprises non-commercial market stalls selling fresh meat and vegetables, homemade cakes, jams and honey, jewellery, wood items, knitted baby wear, soft toys, and cards.

Tea, coffee, and light refreshments are also available, along with free parking and admission.
